INRS: An Interdisciplinary Conference Since 2006
The INRS was originally organized by the IISART member Hocoma. In 2004, 110 individuals attended the first robotic symposium that was organized as an interdisciplinary side event of the WFNR and DMGP conferences. As a result of the overwhelmingly positive and encouraging feedback, the organizers decided to initiate the INRS, the International NeuroRehabilitation Symposium, as a platform for all players in the field of rehabilitation technology, to meet, exchange knowledge and build partnerships. The first INRS in 2006 was conducted in close collaboration with the University Hospital Balgrist and attracted 280 attendees with very diverse backgrounds. Since then, the INRS is organized biannually.

INRS 2009
In 2009, the INRS was organized by Hocoma together with the research projects “Spinal Cord Repair” und MIMICS, with 385 attendees (clinicians, engineers, medical device companies, students, other).
INRS 2011
In 2011, ICORR, INRS and ICVR joined forces to bring together engineers, clinical researchers, practicing clinicians and industry representatives for the first RehabWeek, and attracted over 650 attendees from all around the world. For more visit www.rehabweekzurich.com
INRS 2013
Over 400 attendees from 39 countries to attend the INRS, which was co-organized by Hocoma and the research project groups REWIRE, INTERACTION, KFSP, SGNR, COST Action and the Children’s Rehabilitation Hospital of the University of Zurich.
INRS 2015
In 2015, INRS was joined by the ICVR and by the International Conference on Recent Advances in Neurorehabilitation (ICRAN) to conduct the second RehabWeek in Valencia, Spain. Over 500 people found their way to Spain.
INRS 2017
In 2017, the INRS was organized by the IISART conference group for the first time, along with the following INRS co-organizers: the eNHANCE research project, the Wellington Hospital and the World Federation of NeuroRehabilitation. The INRS was one of the four conferences meeting for RehabWeek 2017 in London, UK. The other conferences were the International Conference on Rehabilitation Robotics, the International Functional Electrical Stimulation Society and the British Society for Rehabilitation Medicine. The event attracted over 1000 attendees to the Thames and broke many records!
INRS 2019
The INRS was one of six societies that joined for RehabWeek 2019 in Toronto. IISART organized the INRS program together with the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation NeuroRecovery Network, the International Society for Virtual Rehabilitation and the World Federation for NeuroRehabilitation. Rehabweek attracted almost 1500 people, the local hosts were amazing and the RehabWeek Night in the CN Tower legendary! A very special program item was the lab and clinic visits all over Toronto on the last day of the conference, which were organized perfectly by the local team and had sold out long before the conference!
